On 29 December 2006 the Handover Ceremony has been organized at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) to hand over the Cambodia Investment Guidebook made on the collaboration of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Council for the Development of Cambodia during the course of the implementation of the Project on the Study on Economic Policy Support in the Kingdom of Cambodia. At the ceremony Mr. Kazuhiro YONEDA, Resident Representative of JICA Cambodia delivers the publications to H.E. Mr. Cham Prasidh, Senior Minster, Minister of Commerce and Vice Chairman of the CDC who represents Cambodian side.
The Cambodia Investment Guidebook is the first comprehensive information book covering the wide-ranged business and investment information in the Kingdom of Cambodia. It is made in both Japanese and English languages. Through the Japanese version, it is expected that the information presented in the book will benefit and draw more attention of the Japanese firms especially small and medium-size Japanese manufacturing companies to invest in Cambodia.
Included as the information in the book are: (a) full range of business and investment information and issues required for planning the investment activities in Cambodia, (b) index of economic freedom and steady and continuous trade and investment growth notifying the positive side of the Cambodian economy, (c) provisions of related laws and regulations aiming at promoting understanding of the investors and further research, (d) information on the cost of doing business in Cambodia like infrastructure costs, service and living fees and daily costs related to the investors, and (e) the information on the living in Cambodia for Japanese investors.
It is important to note that the Royal Government of Cambodia had requested to Japanese Government for the Study on Economic Policy Support in the Kingdom of Cambodia in Japanese Fiscal Year 2003. The Project was approved by the Japanese Government and implemented by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with the Cambodian Investment Board of the CDC. The project implementation agreement (Scope of Work) between the two governments was signed on August 22, 2005. The main objective of the study is to promote the foreign direct investment (FDI) to Cambodia, especially the Japanese FDI.
