Introduction to the Civil Code and the Code of Civil Procedure
- Daily Life and Laws -

Our daily life is closely related to laws. There are several laws regulating contents and validity of economic activities such as buying goods at a market or entering into business contract as well as formation of personal relation such as marriage and divorce. When a dispute is occurred between two parties, they may ask the court to resolve the dispute and the court procedure shall be also carried out in accordance with provisions of laws.
 

In this seminar, we will discuss how these new Codes put influence upon our daily life and economic activities in a business sector, in the following contents:
  • Laws related to our daily life -- types of laws; public laws and private laws, substantive laws and procedural laws, etc.
  • Civil Code and Code of Civil Procedure -- Cambodia history of laws related to civil matters
  • Rights and obligations; real rights and claim (personal rights), Causes of obligation
  • Basic principles; private autonomy and freedom of contract
  • Dispute resolution system and court procedure

    Mr. SAKANO Issei was a graduate of Kyoto University, Faculty of Law in 1992. He started working in Cambodia as the UN volunteer for UNTAC as the District Electoral Supervisor in Svay Rieng, and then as the country director of Japan Lay Missionary Movement/ Caritas Japan Asia Desk in Cambodia, Russia, , and the project coordinator of Legal and Judicial Cooperation Project at the Ministry of Justice from 1998-present as one of JICA Experts.
