The 7th Bon Odori Festival was celebrated on 23 October 2011 at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center. Bon Odori is the most well-known annual event in Japan which is celebrated once a year.

Japanese Association in Cambodia (JAC), in cooperation with Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) and Cambodian Mekong University organized this event for the purpose of exchanging culture, mutual understanding and strengthening relationship between Cambodian and Japanese people and offering youth a great time to enjoy together.

On the event day, Khmer and Japanese traditional dance were cheerfully celebrated. Most of the participants were very happy not only with dancing, but also eating and buying a lot of things since there were many interesting corners such as book/magazine corners, clothes corners, souvenir corners, Cambodian and Japanese food corners and so on.

There were around 4000 people enjoying “Bon Odori” this year. Mr. Yasuyuki Ogawa, vice chairman of JAC, noted that Cambodian people donated a lot of money to help Japanese victims affected by Tsunami so this time the money donated from “Bon Odori” participants will be used to help Cambodian flood victims.
