Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) organized a closed-door event called “CJAP Alumni Connect” for members of the CJCC Accelerator Program (CJAP) from the 1st to 6th cohort, trainers and mentors of the program, and sponsors such as JICA Cambodia Office and AEON MALL (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., and the program supports Deloitte Tohmatsu Financial Advisory LLC,  Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA), Khmer enterprise (KE), World Association of Overseas Japanese Entrepreneurs (WAOJE).

The event was held on January 18th, 2024 at AEON 1. The purpose of the event was to celebrate the achievements and impact of the CJAP, facilitate business matching and collaboration opportunities among the alumni and other stakeholders, recognize and appreciate the trainers and mentors who have supported the alumni throughout the program, give a certificate of gratitude, and host a dinner session. The event also aimed to solicit feedback and suggestions from the alumni on how to improve the program and its alumni services.

During the open remark, Dr. Khim Leang, Director of the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC), expressed his thoughts on the event “The ‘CJAP Alumni Connect’ aims to connect and strengthen the rapport among those who have been with us so far, as well as to express gratitude for their contributions.”

He added “CJCC designed the CJCC Accelerator Program (CJAP) with the intention of contributing to the economic development of Cambodia by nurturing investment-ready entrepreneurs through intensive training. The program also creates fundraising opportunities for startups and young entrepreneurs in collaboration with Cambodian business associations, impact investors, and other relevant organizations and companies. This initiative was launched in response to the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in Cambodia during that time (2018), such as poor access to finance, limited business support and human capital, and difficulty in accessing the market, ect.”

On that occasion, Mr. Masuda Chikahiro, a JICA expert and Chief Advisor of the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC), also shared his insights “The "CJAP alumni connect" will be offered mentorship, funding opportunities, and advice to the new graduates, enriching the entrepreneurial spirit. It also represents a practical platform to implement what they have learned and experienced, allowing them to impact Cambodian society positively.”.

The CJCC Accelerator Program (CJAP) is one of the popular courses of the Business Training program of the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC). This course aims to grow investment-ready entrepreneurs by providing business capacity development as well as creating business collaboration and fundraising opportunities with Cambodian business associations, impact investors, and Japanese companies. Only selected companies are allowed to participate in the courses, and in every cohort, selected participants have the chance to visit Japan to pitch their business to Japanese investors and business people.
