On July 29, 2024, the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) organized a certificate awarding ceremony for 23 JDS scholarship students who completed a four-week Japanese language course at CJCC. These 23 students are government officers from various Cambodian ministries and institutes who passed the Human Resource Development Scholarship by Japan Grant Aid in Cambodia (JDS) project, administered by the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE).
During the event, Mr. Sok Chamroeun, a JDS scholarship recipient and a government officer from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, expressed gratitude to the Japanese language teachers who worked diligently to nurture their language skills. He shared his enjoyment of studying at CJCC and emphasized that the Japanese knowledge acquired there would facilitate his life in Japan.
Mr. Seang Nimorl, Deputy Director of CJCC, commended the students for their commitment to mastering Japanese at CJCC. Although the short duration of the course might not be sufficient for daily communication in Japan, it provided them with fundamental language skills and cultural understanding, aiding their adaptation to Japanese society.
Annually, the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICA) sends JDS students to CJCC to develop various skills, including Japanese management style, basic language proficiency, and cultural awareness, before they pursue higher education in Japan. The JDS project is a prestigious scholarship program that offers opportunities for young and highly capable Cambodian officials to pursue master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Japan, enhancing their leadership skills and expertise in their respective fields.
