The Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) will host the Japan–Cambodia Kizuna Festival 2026 from 05th until 08th February 2026. This cultural exchange event aims to connect the cultures, people, and shared spirit of Cambodia and Japan.
The festival was originally launched to commemorate the opening of the CJCC in February. Since 2012, it has been jointly organized with the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, and in 2016, the Japan Foundation Phnom Penh Liaison Office joined as a co-organizer. Today, the festival continues to flourish as a three-party collaborative event.
Through a wide range of programs, from traditional culture to contemporary expressions, the festival has fostered mutual understanding and exchange between the two nations. In 2025, approximately 19,000 visitors attended, solidifying its status as one of the most iconic cultural exchange festivals in the region.
The theme for 2026 is “A New Gateway.” Inspired by the opening of the Techo International Airport, this theme represents the expanding possibilities between Japan and Cambodia. This “gateway” goes beyond a physical point of arrival or departure; it symbolizes a new starting point for a deeper relationship across education, culture, business, tourism, and, most importantly, the heartfelt connections between people.
Through this festival, we aim to provide each visitor with opportunities to encounter new perspectives, forge meaningful connections, and find inspiration to take a step toward the future.
Centered on the concept of “See, Learn, and Experience,” the festival will feature a wide variety of interactive and participatory programs for all ages and nationalities. Highlights include traditional and contemporary performances by Japanese and Cambodian artists; hands-on workshops such as calligraphy, origami (folding paper), tea ceremony, Khmer and Japanese handicrafts; and educational programs.
In addition, the festival will offer exhibitions introducing culture and local communities, food booths featuring authentic Japanese and Cambodian cuisine, and entertainment such as Japanese and Khmer dance, allowing visitors to experience both cultures through all five senses.
